Czech republic's Commisioner General Elected into EXPO 2005 Steering Commitee

Prague - At a session attended by the EXPO 2005 Commissioners-General, Mr. Vladimír Darjanin, the Czech Republic's Commissioner-General at EXPO 2005 Aichi, was elected a member of EXPO´s Steering Committee, together with the official representatives from Australia, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Russia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and Costa Rica, the latter country having the status of an observer. Mr. Bernard Testu, the Commissioner-General of France, has been elected Chairman of the Steering Committee.

As an elected authority, the EXPO 2005 Steering Committee represents and defends the interests of all the 121 participating states, closely cooperating with the organizers and an auditing body of the World Exhibitions authority BIE (International Bureau for Exhibitions). As a result, the Czech Republic has been given a unique opportunity to use its vote in directly shaping key decisions, thus taking a major share in the preparations for and the course of EXPO 2005 Aichi.

Before the exhibition, its Steering Committee will hold its sessions once in 3 months, meeting each month during the EXPO 2005 Aichi.
