Outstanding historical personality: Saint Adalbert (born in Libice nad Cidlinou). Significant cultural monument: Karlštejn castle, Konopiště chateau, Kutná Hora. Significant natural locality: Křivoklát area - UNESCO Biospheric Reserve, Bohemian Karst Protected Landscape Area. Significant investment project: Construction of the Kolín - Ovčáry Industrial Zone (car industry - Toyota Works) Outstanding contemporary personality: Tomáš Topol - writer, Michal Viewegh - writer, Lucie Bílá - singer, Jaromír Jágr - ice-hockey player. Folklore: Elbe Valley Ethnographic Museum (Polabské národopisné museum) in Přerov nad Labem (open-air museum with folk buildings), Kouřim open-air museum (Museum of Folk Buildings in Kouřim). Tourist destination: Kutná Hora, Karlštejn Cooperation with Japan: The Mitsubishi firm built a new plant in the new Slaný - sever Industrial Zone for the production of parts for car industry.
