The keynote of the EXPO 2005 World's Exposition in Aichi is "The Wisdom of Nature". Without an active approach of the human civilization that seems to be gravitating towards a modern recycling society whose prime goal will be to strike an ideal balance between its social development and the environment, life on our plant would be doomed to extinction. We are well aware that mankind´s greedy and ruthless behavior would, in the end, exact its price in devastating nature, gradually depleting natural resources and causing other related problems, primarily in the social and economic sectors. Seen in this light, presentation of efficient methods how to tackle those issues, notably in the sphere of advanced technologies, a sector where the Czech Republic also has much to offer, is of key importance.

Even though Czech participation in the World Exposition is primarily intended to present the Czech Republic as an advanced country with rich cultural traditions and modern lifestyle, as a nation which is being currently incorporated into the European structures, the Czech pavilion at EXPO 2005 will certainly help in highlighting the potentials of economic cooperation as well.

Pursuant to the Resolution No. 217 of the Government of the Czech Republic issued on March 3, 2003, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been entrusted with the task to cooperate with the Office of the EXPO 2005 Commissioner-General and to provide specialized assistance in safeguarding this momentous event. The Ministry will furnish the Czech pavilion’s information center with suitable brochures and other information materials, supporting its activities at the exposition grounds during individual accompanying programs and also in the Japanese prefectures, with the ultimate aim of establishing good contacts for the Czech business community.

Ing. M. Urban, the Minister of Industry and Trade, has appointed his Deputy, JUDr. M. Somol, CSc., to the consultative body of the EXPO 2005 Commissioner-General. The staff of the government agencies CzechInvest and CzechTrade, as well as the employees of the commercial and economic section of the Czech Embassy in Japan are also expected to help in meeting the overall objectives of this exposition, namely to ensure sustainable development, while promoting the Czech Republic’s economic cooperation not only with Japan but also with the entire East Asian region.

During as well as after the EXPO 2005 World's Exposition in Aichi the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Industry and Trade anticipates that foreign investors from that region will step up their interest and activities in the Czech Republic, broadening the scope of possibilities for exporting Czech goods not only to Japan but also to countries neighboring with Japan.
