Trade Fairs Brno to Participate in Expo 2005

World expositions are by statute non-commercial in nature. The Japanese prefecture of Aichi was selected to host the first exposition of the new millennium: Expo 2005, which will mark the first of a new generation of world expositions. What is new? In addition to a different scale, the prime focus is on attempting to incorporate the concepts of participation, information, technology and craftsmanship within the framework of one main goal: the interactive integration of visitors into a game in which they will play the main role.

The firm Trade Fairs Brno (BVV) has in contrast been working in the field of organizing commercial trade fairs and exhibitions for more than three-quarters of a century. BVV made a decision to participate and use its experience to contribute to the successful participation of the Czech Republic at the Expo 2005 World Exposition. Based on this decision, BVV entered into negotiations with the Office of the General Commissioner, discussing conditions for the company's participation in this prestigious event. Following an agreement with representatives of the region of South Moravia, Trade Fairs Brno was made an official partner of Czech participation, representing South Moravia. The company will provide financial, logistical and technical support for the South Moravia Week at Expo 2005, which will run from April 25 to May 1, 2005.

Mr. František Polách, the first vice-governor of the South Moravia Region, emphasized: "Allow me to express my gratitude for the decision of Trade Fairs Brno to support the participation of the South Moravia Region at the Expo 2005 World Exposition in Japan, in particular because the funds available from the regional government would not be sufficient to finance this event. Only a few regions of the Czech Republic are home to such an important partner in their participation in Expo 2005. I am confident that the cooperation between South Moravia and Trade Fairs Brno will also be of benefit to our partner and their business. Our primary goal at this exhibition is to enhance the awareness of this region among the Japanese, awakening in them a desire to come here both as tourists and investors. In this respect the fact that the region is taking part should be very useful for entrepreneurs and the owners of development zones and property in South Moravia."

These comments by one of the leading representatives of South Moravia precisely set out our common goals and at the same time reflect the agreement and connectedness between the interests of the region and this company, which makes its home there. An important part of Expo 2005 in Aichi will be - as it has been at similar events in the past - a tremendous number of activities supporting interaction and communication between people, getting to know different cultures and establishing personal relationships, which often serve as stepping-off points or the basis for the creation of business partnerships; very often the boundaries between the social, cultural and business spheres will overlap. This gives Trade Fairs Brno with a unique opportunity to present its services in the field international business - after all what is a trade fair in essence other than communication and the exchange of information? The motivation for becoming involved in this project is further enhanced by the fact that Expo 2005 Aichi is taking place in a part of the world that is very interesting because of its economic standing and future potential.

From a specialist point of view, Expo 2005 also represents one of most prestigious events in the field. Our previous participation in world expositions has generally confirmed the good name of the Czech "school of exhibitions," something that has allowed our country to stand out among other countries, irrespective of its size, population, or technological or economic power. So we can only hope that thanks to our ideas and an empathetic response on the part of the visitors, that we will be able to "produce" economic benefits for both South Moravia and Trade Fairs Brno.
