EditorialDear Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen, Together with the seventh issue of our quarterly magazine, we have entered the year 2005 when the gates of Expo 2005 in the Japanese prefecture of Aichi will open; this will mark thirty-five years since the Czech Republic last participated in a world's fair held in Japan. As we have emphasized a number of times already, our main goal is not only to follow on in the footsteps of our earlier successes, but to further enhance the good name of the Czech Republic among the Japanese public. In our preparations for the retrospective exhibition "From Brussels 1958 to Aichi 2005," in addition to Brussels '58 and Montreal '67, we could not help but emphasize the year 1970, which marked another of the Czech Republic's remarkable successes - this time at the World Exposition in Osaka, Japan. We were once again awestruck by the unbelievable artistry and talent of the pavilion's creators and its exhibits, which so fascinated the Japanese public. These unique events in the history of Czechoslovak and Czech participation in world expositions have remained in the forefront of our memory and serve as a measure of the level of success we would like to reach with our exhibition in Aichi. Ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to thank those of you who have been following our efforts for your belief and support. I would also like to wish you all the best in 2005. We are making every effort to ensure that it will be a successful year both for us and for the entire Czech Republic. Mgr. Vladimír Darjanin |
