Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends, Readers,

It is my great pleasure and privilege to announce to you the news we have all been waiting for. On September 14, 2004, His Excellency Mr. Taizo Watanabe, the Commissioner General of Expo 2005, presented us with the symbolic key to the Czech Republic's pavilion at Expo 2005. Our goal is now to fill this space and works of art will be one of the main items used.

I am convinced that even amidst the clamoring for attention by the other 127 countries we will stand out because of our unique approach and its presentation. For us, the Film Dekor team is one guarantee of that uniqueness. Film Dekor brings together exceptional experience, a tremendous font of ideas and incredible talent. Of course, an equally great emphasis is being placed on other events that will be held away from the Czech Pavilion, in particular the Czech National Day and thematic weeks that are being prepared in cooperation with leading Czech artists and performers.

Opening Day for Expo 2005 is rapidly approaching and in this context, I would like to once again to reiterate the main goal for all of us who, as a part of the Office of the General Commissioner, are preparing the Czech Republic's participation in Expo 2005. Our goal is the dignified and appropriate presentation of our country at this most important socio-cultural forum. I am convinced that we will continue on in the footsteps of previous successes and that we will awaken an interest in our lovely country - a country that has much to offer the world.
Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to wish you a pleasant autumn and I look forward to our next meeting on the pages of this, our magazine.

Mgr. Vladimír Darjanin
Commissioner General
