Advisory BoardRoman BělorRoman Bělor was born in Prague in 1958 and studied economics and management at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University. Since 1992, he has been the director of the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK and since 2001 he has occupied the position of direction of the Prague Spring International Music Festival. Between 1985 and 1992, Mr. Bělor was a member of Kuhn's Mixed Choir. He is currently a member of the Club for Old Prague and an honorary member of the Mánes Artists Association. Mr. Bělor chairs the Association of Symphony Orchestra Directors of the Czech Republic and the Fund for Culture and Education of the City of Prague. He is the vice-chair of the Association of Music Festivals in the Czech Republic. In 1995, Roman Bělor was made a knight and officer of the French Legion of Honor for the arts and literature. Aleš BřezinaAleš Březina was born in 1965 in the northern Bohemian city of Teplice and studied violin at the conservatory in Plzeň. He completed his university studies in musicology at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. At present, he is pursuing doctoral studies in musicology at the University of Basil, Switzerland. Since 1995, Mr. Březina has been the director of the Bohuslav Martinů Institute. He has published articles and books on twentieth century music, in particular on the life and works of Bohuslav Martinů. He has reconstructed the first version of Martinů's opera The Greek Passion, which had its world premier at the Bregenz Music Festival in Austria. He has also established a regular musicological colloquium entitled "The Musical Life of Prague in the Early Twentieth Century" and has contributed to the screenplays for two documentary films on the life of Bohuslav Martinů produced by Czech Television. Aleš Březina has composed the music for a number of Czech films and television programs and works with several theaters in Prague. Daniel DvořákDaniel Dvořák was born in Prague in 1954 and studied architecture and theater design at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He subsequently studied in Vienna at the Akademie der Bildeneden Künste. Following a period of study in the United States, Mr. Dvořák began working as a theater, film and television designer. He has thus far created more than 200 set designs both at home and abroad. On July 1, 2002 he assumed the role of the managing director of the National Theater in Prague. In 1992, he helped to establish the summer Mozart festival held at the Theater of the Estates. As the theater designer of the State Opera in Prague, he worked on a number of world premiers, including Isaac Steiner's Dorian Gray (2000) and many other operas - Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore and The Fall of the House of Usher by Philip Glass. Mr. Dvořák is the cofounder of the National Marionette Theater and the co-author of a puppet version of Don Giovanni. Daniel Dvořák has been the recipient of many awards for his set designs and in 2002 was made a knight and officer of the French Legion of Honor for the arts and literature. |
