EditorialLadies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends, Last year was quite trying for us but I am glad that we have met all of our obligations with honor. I would like to thank Cyril Svoboda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and his entire ministry, as the organizer of the Office of the General Commissioner, for their patronage and support. These thanks are of course also extended to the government of the Czech Republic and in particular to the Prime Minister, Mr. Vladimír Špidla. I am pleased to be able to inform you that the Japanese organizers of Expo 2005 are very well prepared and that each and every step in the process has been very well thought out and implemented. This can be seen for example in the fact that over five million tickets have already been sold more than a year before the exposition opens. Advertising campaigns are being run both in Japan and abroad and all indications point to Expo 2005 being a very successful world's fair. Importantly for the Czech Republic, we have already received official confirmation that our pavilion will be located in a very favorable location and that the Czech National Day will be held on June 24, 2005. As far as other events are concerned, an exposition of Czech glass and a workshop with Czech glassmakers will be held in the Toyama prefecture between August 28 and September 25, 2005. I am sure that you will find this issue of our magazine interesting and I would in particular like to point out the interview with His Excellency Taizo Watanabe, the Commissioner General of Expo 2005, in which we introduce you to one of the most important figures at the Aichi World Exposition.
