Official "slogan" of World Exposition 2005 Aichi

The first red character is to be read as AI and it is the first character of the name of the Japanese prefecture Aichi, where EXPO 2005 Aichi takes place. It means "love".
The graphically represented sprouting seed symbolises the central topic of the exposition and the unity with nature.
The next two characters are to be read as "CHIKYOO" and mean the "world". The third character "Haku" here means "exposition".
As a whole the complete logotype is translated as "Exposition of Global Harmony".

 
Mascots of Expo 2005 Aichi

Kikkoro (Mori-no-Kodomo) is a forest child, newly born. It keeps jumping and is full of energy. It wants to know and try everything. It is looking forward to encounter friends at the EXPO. It represents the inquisitive and good-humoured youth full of enthusiasm.

Morizo (Mori-no-Ojiichan) is a forest grandpa living in the forest from time immemorial. He is a good-natured and kind old man, who has experienced much and who knows everything. In spite of that he is anxious to learn and as soon as he hears about the EXPO, he is ready to put his shoulder to the wheel. He symbolises wisdom, maturity and tolerance of the ripe old age.
